Do you listen to your body and if so, how do you do it? My youngest daughter was eight when I was first diagnosed with breast cancer. Two years prior, I had gone to my primary care physician with complaints of sharp pains in my breasts. The next year, the pain began to intensify and the skin on my right areola had been changing in a negative way. I began feeling as though my breast was engorged with milk. I nursed my children and could familiarize with the feeling, but because of the age of my youngest, I knew something wasn't right. After going through multiple tests over the course of a year, which many detected nothing, I was diagnosed with Stage 0, Ductal Carcinoma In-Situ. Meaning, it was encapsulated and could have taken days, weeks, or even years to break open and metastasize. Are you listening to your body? Even if it's something little, it's worth your life to get it checked.
